ORP Holds 2009 College Research Forum

The Office of Research and Publications in coordination with the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Academics and Research, sponsored the 2009 College Research Forum which was successfully held on November 9, 2009 at the Nursing Skills Lab 1, Mabini Hall. Attended by 106 faculty and staff from different colleges, this half-day activity showcased different research outputs which were proposed and accepted last SY 2008-2009 as internally-funded research projects.

The program started with the opening ceremonies and presentation of the overview of the activity by the ORP Director, Mrs. Gina M. Dimaano. This was followed by two plenary sessions: Plenary Session 1 featured Dr. Yolanda Africa and Eldrick Pena’s “De La Salle Lipa @ 48: Towards A More Relevant Lasallian Presence in the Philippine District while Plenary Session 2 was Dr. Corazon Abansi’s research entitled “Analysis Of Performance Evaluation Result Of Faculty: Input To Development Program.”

Parallel sessions were held in three different venues in the Mabini Hall where research output presentations were divided/grouped based on related interests and areas. A 30-minute academic exchange was allotted in each parallel session.

Group 1 includes Bernardo C. Lunar’s “Inventory Of Mangrove Vegetation In Line With De La Salle Lipa’s Reforestation Efforts In Calatagan, Batangas,” with Petronila M. Parra and Christie Victoria S. Arcega as co-authors; Marineil Alilei A. Bonot’s “Using Liasons In Enhancing The Listening Skill Of The ESL Learners;” Mr. Fredevel B. Banaag and Mary Ann Illana’s “Kung Paano Magniig Ang Langit At Lupa Sa Mga Panulat Ni Rogelio Sikat: Isang Realistikong Pagbasa;” and Cherie Glo Cabungcal’s “Evaluation Of Community Communication Media In The Promotion Of Health Campaigns.” The session was facilitated by Ms. Baby Maricel Agonia, CBEAM Research Coordinator.

Group 2 featured Dr. Yolanda Africa and Jose Macatangay’s “Of Letting Go And Holdiing On: Conflict Resolution In Wilfrido Maria Guerrero’s Forever;” Analiza D. Resurreccion’s “The Role Of Media Communications In Developing Tourism Policy And Cross Cultural Communication For Security And Sustainable Tourism Industry In The Province Of Batangas;” and Melanie Lugo’s “Factors Affecting The Word Problem Solving Capabilities In Solid Mensuration Of First Year Engineering Students Of De La Salle Lipa.” Mr. Dennis Malasmas, CITE Research Coordinator served as the moderator for this group.

Facilitated by Ms. Alicia Barte, CoN Research Coordinator, Group 3 presentations include Bernardo C. Lunar’s “An Analysis Of Two Methods Of Instruction In Anatomy And Physiology Laboratory Classes” with Ma. Consuelo C. Doble and Maria Carmen B. Rocio as co-authors; Renato Maligaya’s “Ang Penomenolohiya Ng Paniniwala Ng Mga Batangueñong Tsino Sa Mahal Na Birhen Ng Caysasay Bilang Si Ma-Tzu;” Kathryn M. Trivino’s “Perceived Leadership Qualities Of Academic Chairpersons And Its Effect On Organizational Commitment And Turnover Intentions Of College Faculty Members At De La Salle Lipa;” and Dr. Merlita C. Medallon’s “Graduate’s Assessment Of Tertiary Schooling At De La Salle Lipa.”

The activity ended with the awarding of certificates to all participants and presenters where the College of Education, Arts and Sciences (CEAS) headed by Dean Hermogenes B. Panganiban received special recognition for having the most number of presenters in this years’s college research forum. The program was hosted by Ms. Andrenelyn A. Varona, CIHTM Research Coordinator.
