Culture and Arts Office holds several activities

The Culture and Arts Office under the auspices of the Sports and Culture Directorate held art workshops, literary talks, exhibits, and a cultural summit this last quarter of the year It started with the annual National Children's Month(NCM) celebration with its  Lasallian theme "Kultura at Sining para sa Bata, Itaguyod, Pagyamanin".

Art sessions in celebration of the NCM were organized to support the celebration.  Visual artists Salvador Ching,  Robert Deniega, and Rogger Basco  facilitated the sessions participated in by DLSL kinder and grades 6 students. The Presidential Management Office through the Marketing Communications Department initiated the sending out of invites for private and public schools.  The two-day art sessions on October 15 and 16 was well attended by private and public schools invitees. Head writer of giant network ABS- CBN Jerry Gracio was invited to talk on campus writing held on October 18 which also was well attended by campus journalists in nearby schools of Lipa  City and as far as Tanauan City.All these activities were given for free for all the invitees.

The regular monthly exhibit featured paintings and sculptures of  Boholano artists, Sam Penaso, J. Buremboro, Jacque Cutambao, Eric D. Catot, Irish Glori Galon,  Glen Lumantao, Joey Labrador, Carlito Masalta, and Jeffrey Ronald L. Sisican. Exhibit  runs from October 28, 2013 until December 12. 2013. The gallery is located at the upper deck of the Sentrum and is open to the public.

The Network of Cavite,Laguna, Batangas Rizal Quezon, Inc (NOCEI Inc.) through its Cultural Committee headed by DLSL  held the 1st NOCEI Cultural Summit with the theme Beyond K 12 Addressing the Nations Cultural Bind/Divide on November 16 at DLSL Sentrum. Participants came in from Colegio De san Juan De Letran, First Asia Institute of Humanities and Technology, De La Salle University Dasmarias . De La Salle Health Sciences Institute, De La Salle University- Science and Technology Campus, Lipa City Colleges, Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas, St. Bridget College, and De La Salle Lipa consisted of student artists, faculty members, trainers, artists, and cultural workers.

The summit aimed to gather student artists, artists, cultural workers in a learning and performance sessions and build stronger ties among NOCEI members schools while working for a revived cultural art programs on their different schools. 

Dr Isagani Cruz, writer and literary critic and also president of Manila Times College gave the keynote speech on the theme which he quickly adapted to the major composition of the participants which are student artists. 

Ten session speakers on areas such as heritage, digitization of local culture,culinary arts, visual arts, music, theater, dance, and performance art who were Rica Palis, Chef Paul Poblador,Emmanuel Garibay, Lorenzo Gealogo, Amado Hagos, Rogger Basco and Boyet de Mesa respectively.

And just recently on November 26, the Sagisag Kutura exhibit opened at the Sentrum Lobby with the National Artist for Literature Virgilio Almario as guest of honor. The Sagisag Kultura or Cultural Icons mobile exhibit is a project of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) to refresh and strengthen the Filipinos cultural identity and is also a must in the teaching of any subjects in the mandated K-12 curriculum. Later during the day Almario lectured on Ontograpiyang Pambansa which is the  newest standardized guidelines on how to write, spell and pronounce the Filipino language. The Sagisag Kultura exhibit runs from November 26 to December 2, and is open to the public.
