DLSL Law Professor Earns a Doctor of Laws

Judge Maria Cecilia Austria-Chua, an esteemed member of De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) College of Law's Corps of Professors, was recently conferred by the San Beda College Graduate School of Law, Manila with the degree Doctor of the Science of Jurisprudence (or JSD), or what is commonly known as Doctor of Laws.

Before a panel composed of distinguished luminaries in the academe as well as the legal and judicial professions, she masterfully expounded on and defended her doctoral dissertation "A Proposal for New Rules of Procedure for Administrative Cases Involving First and Second Level Trial Court Judges." Judge Austria-Chua also garnered her Master of Laws degree from the same institution after successfully making a case for her thesis "Mainstreaming Community Service in the Philippine Criminal Justice System." As remarkable and heady as these stellar achievements significantly are, Judge Austria-Chua has always been, and continues to be, known by her JD students and colleagues in the legal academia to be very diligent in her work, possessed of exacting standards yet tempered by a highly empathetic demeanor. Judge Austria-Chua is currently the Presiding Judge of Branch 2, Regional Trial Court, Batangas City especially constituted as a Commercial Court. CONGRATULATIONS, Dr. Judge Austria-Chua!
