Taking the tagline, "Driving What's Next," to heart, De La Salle Lipa is committed and dedicated on taking concrete steps to realize it. This was manifested in one of its recent initiatives through the acquisition of "the world's most intelligent solar system" dubbed the Smartflower by the Smartflower Pacific.

"Smartflower-the world's first all-in-one solar system," is the first in the country, which can only be found at DLSL. The"plug and play Smartflower functions autonomously and automatically." The press, Lasallian Partners and students witnessed it on the day of its installation on July 6, 2017 at the foreground of the College of Business, Economics, Accountancy and Management Hall.

Smartflower Pacific's John McEnroe, Chief Executive Officer, and Leonard Tanaka, Chief Operating Officer led the installation with the assistance of its local partner, the Wyn Power Corporation.

The latest innovation "produces up to 40% more power than a comparable traditional rooftop system due to its ability to track the sun at 90-degree angle from sun up to sun down and its self-cleaning and cooling functions."

As the first owner in the country of this top-of-the-line technology, DLSL opens its doors to interested institutions or agencies for inquiries or educational purposes, according to DLSL's Chief Strategy and Advancement Officer (CSAO), Arnold Capuloy. Thus, it serves as one of the best  instructive tools for DLSL students.  The move to acquire the innovative technology is one of the options that the institution is exploring aside from wind power and biomass that they are looking into. This route that DLSL is taking to sustainability is part of its framework that has impressed other countries at an international affair in Canada that the CSAO attended this July.

The Smartflower Pacific is based in Hawaii while the Smartflower technology is from Austria. It is their mission to facilitate the increased use and development of renewable energy in Hawaii and throughout the world.
