Representing no less than the country in the 2017 ASEAN School Games, the Secondary Girls' Volleyball team, composed mainly of De La Salle Lipa Green Chevron athletes, brought pride and honor aside from the bronze medal they earned.

From July 15 to 19, 2017 the young Lasallians, together with selected players from Luzon, battled it out with the region's toughest teams; a notable match was that with Thailand which the Thais won by five sets. It was the third game for the Philippines after slaying two other teams, Malaysia (25-18 | 25-20 | 25-16) and Singapore (26-24 | 25-17 | 25-11), in prior matches that the Filipinas dominated in three straight sets each. Although the Thais are known to be quite adept with the game that the Filipinos have come to embrace and enjoy, the Philippine athletes proved that they are a force to reckon with after giving the opponents a taste of the championship match with a very close score for every set 25-23 | 25-27 | 23-25 | 25-22 | 14-16. The team won a bronze medal after succumbing to the Indonesians in three straight sets 15-25 | 18-25 | 17-25.

Back home, viewers on Facebook live held their breath every time a set came to a close call and they could only be grateful for the tenacity and heart that the young athletes displayed which was enough character for such neophytes.

Aside from the Secondary Girls' Volleyball team, the DLSL community commends the efforts as well by another Green Chevron Secondary Boys' Volleyball team member, John Mark Ronquillo, who also received a bronze medal, and swimmer, Robin Louise Tolentino, who was also part of the Philippine delegation.

The DLSL-led Secondary Girls' Volleyball team in the ASEAN School Games, hosted by Singapore, was composed by Green Chevrons, Kimberly Adajar, Mary Mirgie Bautista, Jamie Margaret Frago, Yvonne Cyrah Humarang, Alleiah Jan Malaluan and Janel Maraguinot, together with their head coach, Regine Diego, and assistant, Peter Perez.

After a long journey that landed the Secondary Girls' Volleyball team a gold medal in the 2017 Palarong Pambansa, it served as their ticket to the ASEAN School Games. This victory of the team is a second bronze for DLSL after the first in the same tournament back in 2013 by the Secondary Boys' Volleyball team.
