DLSL hosts 8th NOCEI Research Forum

Emphasizing that research should address population explosion, societal demographics, climate change, energy crisis, globalization and technology, Dr. Allan de Guzman, UST Full Professor, 2011 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Teacher (Higher Education Category) and one of the country's most prolific researchers addressed the 200 participants in the 8th Network of CALABARZON Educational Institutions, Inc. (NOCEI) Research Forum hosted by De La Salle Lipa, February 27. The opening program was graced by the presence of Br. Kenneth Martinez FSC, D. Min., DLSL President and Chancellor and NOCEI President; Dr. Alicia B. Botardo, DLSL VCAR; and NOCEI Board of Directors. With the theme, "Research T.R.E.N.D.S.," the forum consisted of plenary and parallel sessions where papers on areas of health and medical sciences/natural science and environment; business and economics; education; humanities and social science; management information and technology/engineering and applied sciences were presented. The acronym TRENDS stands for Transforms lives, Rediscovers truths, Expands horizons, Nurtures minds, Develops economies and Sustains life on earth which are all possible through research engagement of educators in higher education institutions. Ms. Gina M. Dimaano, Chair of NOCEI Research Committee and Director of DLSL Research and Publications spearheaded the screening of the research papers for acceptance in the forum either as presentation or poster. Some De La Salle Lipa faculty members presented their research outputs in the forum. Presenters were: Catherine Precioso, Bernardo Lunar, Marisol Laguardia, Dr. Joy Talens, Dr. Ivee Guce, Ma. Cristina Francesca Dimaculangan, Hermogenes Panganiban and Dr. Irish Dimaculangan of the College of Education Arts and Sciences (CEAS); Dr. Merlita Durana, Teodora Gatus and Dean Lani Garachico of the College of Business, Economics Accountancy and Management (CBEAM). The biggest delegations during the NOCEI Forum came from De La Salle Lipa, De La Salle University Dasmariņas and Batangas State University.
