Learn to Read.    Read to Learn.

With this dictum as battle cry, De La Salle Lipa launches its Book Mobile and Reading Program (BMRP), an outreach project, last December 2, 2005 at the SENTRUM. This is in line with the institution’s continuous effort to provide more opportunities for sharing Lasallian education to the young and marginalized sector of society.

The event was graced by Lipa Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Cristeto Pamplona, Rafael M. Lojo School Principal Cirilo Tumambing, Synergeia Foundation CEO, Dr. Milwida Guevara and Development Officer Trissa Manalastas, Rotary Club of Lipa West President Ms. Liza Cordero, and faculty, elementary and college students of De La Salle Lipa.

As part of its initial implementation, a send-off activity of the Mobile Library was done at the De La Salle Sentrum whereby selected AB Communication students did a creative presentation about BMRP. Project K, volunteer staff and college students of DLSL actively participated in the program through book donations and carrying-out of library and reading activities. It was then followed by a launching ceremony in the project’s first school beneficiary, the Rafael M. Lojo Elementary School at Brgy. Banaybanay, Lipa City.

The BMRP is committed to visit the neediest public elementary schools in Lipa City. With a bus designed as a transportable library, BMRP shall bring books to poor children, offer guided reading programs, book-lending opportunities and organize tutorial sessions for elementary students in subject areas such as English and Math.

The overall implementation of the BMRP is organized by Br. Manuel Pajarillo and Committee Chairperson Dr. Corazon Abansi, together with Mr. Hector Gloria and Head Librarian, Ms. Lilian Rabino.
