A delegation from De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) visited the offices of I.T. company SQL Wizards as well as its sister company, DB Wizards, in Makati last 2 June 2006. The visit was arranged by Bernard Morgan, President and CEO of Global Implementation Services, Inc. (GIS), from which the school acquired its MS Great Plains general ledger accounting system and through which the school also hopes to acquire an advanced enrolment and student management system.
The DLSL delegation was led by Mr. Juan Lozano, Executive Vice-President. Also in the party were VP for Administration Mr. Rex Torrecampo, Dean for Student Services Mr. Erickson Martinez, Information Systems Department Manager Mr. Florentino Magsino and Software Administrator Mr. Gil Panganiban. Providing input from the College Registrar's Office were Mr. Ruben Rubis and Ms. Levinia Silva. The school was initially supposed to acquire a student Management system through GIS from a third party Singaporean firm. The project, already into the implementation stage, was aborted due to contractual disputes. The new system being eyed by the school was created originally to run on the Oracle platform. The developers, however, hope to create a new version which will run under the Microsoft SQL server platform, with DLSL as its first prospective client. The DLSL delegation was divided into two groups during the visit, with Lozano, Torrecampo and Martinez sitting down with Ms. Dina Salonga of SQL Wizards and Mr. Antonio Lasala in a senior management conference. The rest of the group sat down in a technical conference with Mr. Ricky Lopez and Ms. Glycel Calanzo of SQL Wizards and Mrs. Margaret Morgan and Mr. Louis Suancing of GIS.
