The ISD (Information Systems Department) recently led an intensive OJT program for CITE students, particularly those taking up BS in Computer Engineering and BS in Computer Science. This is in conjunction with the efforts of CITE to establish linkage between the academe and the industry.
The operations of ISD approximately replicates that of the industry, providing technical support to the administration and the academic units. This makes it a perfect venue for programs such as this, eventually making De La Salle Lipa a ‘one-stop’ educational institution, with the administration directly involved in honing the skills of the learner.
This on-campus apprenticeship program aims to immerse the students to various areas of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), specifically, network infrastructure management and systems development. The trainees are exposed to ‘live’ computing environment and scenarios. Moreover, they are given additional technical lectures by ISD staff from time to time. This program ensures that theoretical concepts learned inside the classroom are augmented by actual and practical applications.
It is expected that the other colleges in DLSL will follow suit with such on-campus training programs.
