Upgrading of the College Student Handbook

Keyboard equivalent: N

The College Student Handbook has been upgraded for school year 2006-2007 after review by a multi-sectoral Student Handbook Committee during the summer vacation.

The Student Handbook Committee first met on March 3, 2006 to discuss possible upgrading on the student handbook. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Erickson Martinez, then Acting Dean for Student Services. The members of the committee were Mr. Randolph Ian Clet, incoming President of the Student Government; Mr. Michael H. Kasilag, Head of the Student Activities Office; Mr. Eugene L. Runas III, Head of the Discipline Office; Ms. Karolyn M. Andal, Head of Admissions Office; Mr. Dante Chavez, representative of the College of Information Technology & Engineering (CITE); and Ms. Ma. Theresa Magsino, representative of the College of Business, Economics, Accountancy and Management (CBEAM).

This year's handbook includes additional appendices entitled "The Drug Free DLSL Community", "Guidelines to Conduct Random Drug Testing for Secondary and Tertiary Students", "College Committee on Campus Sexuality", and the "Revised Emergency Drill Path". Pictures of students showing the proper uniforms replaced last year’s caricatured appendix.

Upon the suggestion of Clet, the Student Government representative, additional features such as the student planner was added. The idea was accepted by the committee members on the premise that it would encourage college students to bring the new student handbook.

Ms. Lorna Achico, Manager of the Marketing and Communications Office, was requested to design the cover. The new design shows the four college flags aligned in the upper part of the cover with the school logo in the middle. The Alma Mater song and the song Glory To You, O Saint De La Salle are printed in the back page. The Research and Publication Office edited the handbook.
