A faculty member from the College of Education, Arts and Sciences (CEAS) became the 1st Lasallian Partner (LP) to be sent to the International Association of Lasallian Universities (IALU) Symposium held at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA last September 24 to 26, 2017.

Mr. Roy Dalisay of the Languages and Literature Learning Area presented his research paper entitled: “Perception on the Impact of De La Salle Lipa Book Mobile Reading Program (BMRP) to Barangay San Celestino, Lipa City, Batangas” that he co-authored with Ms. Asuncion Atienza of the same Learning Area. His presentation during the symposium which is officially known as the 6th Annual International Symposium on Lasallian Research, dwelled on the results of the investigation of the impact of the said program to key leaders of Barangay San Celestino, Lipa City in terms of the benefits gained by the community. Results of the research revealed that the community well-appreciated the program and it is highly influential in community development when it comes to students being able to read. The study recommended closer coordination with community leaders, technological enhancement of the reading materials and connection of reading activities with writing.

More than a hundred researchers and administrators from Lasallian schools around the world attended the event which is co-sponsored by the Christian Brothers Conference Lasallian Region of North America and Lasallian.Info. The event’s website reported that it ” gathers creative minds to dialogue about the key characteristics or key areas that comprise the field of Lasallian research today; look beyond a study solely of the origins, tradition, and heritage in Lasallian research; break open the possibilities for Lasallian research in the 21st-Century; and propose avenues or topics for future needed Lasallian research”. Aside from keynote speakers, a key feature of the activity is the opportunity to establish linkages and partnerships with other Lasallian institutions.

Almost all of Mr. Dalisay’s expenses were shouldered by the institution as it commits to send at least one faculty member to the annual Symposium.
