De La Salle Lipa’s (DLSL) BS Education students snatched multiple awards at the 7th Young Educators Congress held at De La Salle University – Dasmarinas, Cavite from February 1-2, 2018.
With the theme “On to the Global Milieu: Pedagogical Changes, Challenges and Strategies” the said congress tackled the issues encountered by millennials and featured literary, editorial and creative performances, together with research presentations, quiz bees, demonstration teaching, spoken poetry contests, and Bigkas Sayaw Awit. The event was attended by Education students, faculty and administrators.
Three groups from DLSL were commended for their outstanding research presentations. Maribel Padilla and John Malabag presented their research entitled “The Implementation of Bring-Your-Own-Device Project as Perceived by De La Salle Lipa Grade 4 to Grade 6 Teachers”. Another research, “Digital Game-Based Learning in Combating Mathematics Anxiety of Grade 9 Students from De La Salle Lipa”, was presented by Geraldine Aguilera, Lei Atienza and Cyren Gonzales. Last under research presentations was “Students’ Awareness on the Culture of Peace at De La Salle Lipa Integrated School: Basis for the Development of Proposed Learning Modules with Peace Education Integration to Grade 10 Social Studies Instruction” by Jillian Agbing, Judy Fontanilla and Frances Navarro.
Meanwhile, bagging 3rd place for Bigkas, Sayaw, Awit Contest are 3rd and 4th year BEED and BSED students under the mentorship of Mr. Francis Gio Reyes. In 2nd place for Professional Education Quiz Bee Contest were Lei Atienza, Lorenz Carin, and Noel Cirujano under the coaching of Dr. Joy D. Talens. Finally, garnering the Championship spot on Spoken Word Poetry Contest was Searena Nina P. Zuno, with her coach Dr. Maria Kalaw and Mr. Francis Gio Magtibay Reyes as trainer.
