DLSL High School Girls Volleyball Team landed in the silver finish in the national finals of the Rebisco Volleyball League Girls Under 18 tournament. The Green Chevrons clashed with three-time UAAP Juniors Champ Nazareth School of National University.
The Lipa-based squad showed aggressiveness with NCR’s powerhouse team with closely-fought thrillers, 25-23, 24-26, 25-14, 25-12. Prior the final match, DLSL swept the eliminations with a 6-0 standing. DLSL Head Coach Ronwald Dimaculangan reminded his girls to give their opponents a smart play in their week-long tourney. “We gave our best; NU showed raised the level of our game. We have a young team and we hope that our new players will learn a lot from this. We are happy with what we achieved given we are in a rebuilding phase,” said Dimaculangan.1 Well noted by the spectators was the positive attitude given by our girls – how they celebrate every point they win despite their struggles in the last two sets.
DLSL won four individual awards in the anticipated national finals – Mirgie Bautista as the 2nd Best Outside Attacker, Alleiah Malaluan as the Best Opposite Attacker, Janel Maraguinot as the Best Setter, and Reign Lumbera as the Best Libero.
