 De La Salle Lipa Level 10 students, FRANK NICCOLO M. SANTIAGO and JULIO FAJARDO III, both LS 401, won first place in the 2012 REGIONAL METROBANK-MTAP- DEPED MATH CHALLENGE FINALS held on March 16, 2012 at Padre Valerio Malabanan Memorial School, Lipa City.
Fifteen schools representing 15 divisions of Region IV-A (CALABARZON) competed in the contest. The DLSL team ranked fifth after the easy round but they managed to take the lead after getting perfect score in the average round. By only one mistake in the difficult round, they ranked first place in the Regional Level.
DLSL team ranked first during the elimination stage held on January 19, 2012 at Lipa City National High School. Fajardo got a perfect score in the individual written competition. In the team category competition, Nicco and Julio won 1st place in the Division Level on February 14, 2012 at Sen. Claro M. Recto Memorial School which made them represent the Division of Lipa in the Regional Finals.
Santiago and Fajardo also won first runner-up in the 11th LPL CALABARZON Inter-Highschool Math Olympics held at Lyceum of the Philippines-Laguna on Feb. 10, 2012;
This was the fourth time Santiago won first place in the division level, while the first for Fajardo.
