The Philippine Air Force Air Education and Training Command Fernando Air Base in Lipa awarded a certificate of recognition to De La Salle Lipa last October 19, 2009 “for spearheading the collection of relief goods and clothing at AETC (Air Education and Training Command) that benefited more than 3,000 families affected by Tropical Storm Ondoy, thus alleviating the grief and loss they suffered in the wake of the tragedy” (an excerpt from the citation). The awarding ceremony took place at the Headquarters of Air Education and Training Command, Fernando Air Base, Lipa City and the certificate was signed and given by Brig. Gen. Cmdr. Renato Lorenzo.
The institution was represented by the Community Involvement Office (CIO), led by Ms. Judith U. Alcaraz, together with Mr. Arnel G. Dimaano, Ms. Michelle M. Lalunio and Ms. Maricel G. Perez.
The CIO is leads DLSL in the implementation of outreach programs, but not only when calamities strike the country. All through out the year, the CIO visits different public elementary schools for the Book Mobile and Reading Program and depressed areas for gift-giving and community activities. The institution realizes that assisting our countrymen is not only during depression but it should be a constant effort.
DLSL is honored for the recognition, and the institution will continue to do its duty as a responsible member of the society and will unceasingly implement humanitarian advocacies.
