Cine Kumintang, the third annual De La Salle Lipa Student Film Festival and Congress kicked off on Monday, September 15, and ran through Tuesday afternoon September 15.
The festival tapped five awards for the students’ short films submitted for competition. “Tintoy” , “Espacio Tiempo” and “Preludio”, by De La Salle Lipa students bagged the Best Film, Best Performance by an Actor and Best Screenplay Awards respectively while Best Performance by an Actress was given to University of Batangas’ student artist. Batangas State University’s student director was accorded the Best Director Award.
The project was sponsored by the AB Communication Department and the Cultural Office which brought an array of short films from the animation, drama, documentary and other genres in the day programming, and some best feature films by invited lecturers. Multi awarded film artists Khavn De La Cruz, Rox Lee and Emerson Reyes lectured on experimental filmmaking, animation and digital compositing.
This year, Batangas State University, FAITH, Lyceum of the Philippines-Batangas Sacred Heart College, San Pablo Colleges, University of Batangas were among the active participants in the festival which gathered a total of 12 films for the competition. The festival also screened international and local short films including the recently awarded dance film Urban Aswang by Rogger Basco
DLSL AB Communication Chair Eldrick Peña with Cultural Officer Crecelda Dimayuga Roldan and Festival Director Rogger Basco conceptualized the festival activities.
