De La Salle Lipa Dominates Regional Presscon

DE LA SALLE LIPA reaffirmed its commitment to excellence when its student publications and journalists ruled the 2009 Regional Higher Education Press Conference, Dec. 9-11, in Batis Aramin, Lucban, Quezon.

The Lavoxa Group of Publications – official student publication of the college division – won the top honors in four out of five publication brackets en route to the Best Performing School in Campus Journalism award.

The Lavoxa broadsheet, Lavoxa tabloid, L Magazine and Utak Berde literary folio were all adjudged best in their respective categories while the Umalohokan newsletter placed third. The five publications received a total of 28 awards, 13 of which were top prizes.

In the individual contests, Jason Lachica was named Individual Highest Pointer after winning the comic strip drawing contest (English) and placing second in graphic illustration (English) and third in editorial cartooning (English).

Eden Mark Pagsuyuin topped comic strip drawing in Filipino and placed fourth in graphic illustration (Filipino). Marianito Dio Jr. was adjudged best in sports writing (English) and Jan Darren Bautista in digital photography.

Patrick Marcelo placed second in photojournalism (Filipino) and seventh in digital photography. Chrizel Anne Mojares was third placer in column writing (Filipino) and fifth in feature writing (Filipino). Karen Joyce Recto was sixth in feature writing (English) and tenth in column writing (English). Jefferson Litan was tenth in editorial writing (Filipino).

On the other hand, the team of Dio, Recto, Litan, Joseph Neal Lacatan and Marie Kristine Elaine Sonza placed seventh in desktop publishing.
