 VCAR Dr. Corazon L. Abansi was speaker in the recently concluded Asian University Presidents Forum held at Hotel Borobudur in Jakarta, Indonesia on October 19-21, 2009. The theme of the forum is “Quality Assurance in Higher Education: Best Practices”. Dr. Abansi discussed the experiences and lessons learned by De La Salle Lipa in its preparations for IQuAME accreditation. IQUAME which stands for Institutional Quality Assurance, Monitoring and Evaluation is a program of the Commission on Higher Education which aims to examine the effectiveness of HEI in its entirety, particularly the overall strategic and operational management of academic affairs and other programs and services.
Dr. Abansi’s presentation also emphasized that DLSL looks at the national approach to quality assurance through IQuAME as a stepping stone to aligning itself to regional and international collaboration in higher education quality assurance. She pinpointed that DLSL recognizes the importance of internationalization of higher education and the need to demonstrate and assure quality, hence, it has forged partnership with sixteen universities in nine countries in the area of exchanges of students and faculty, collaboration in research and cooperation in sports and cultural activities.
