  The Course
: De La Salle Lipa in response to the growing demand for IT professionals throughout the world is offering B.S. Information Technology, a program that will develop the theoretical foundations and applied skills needed to pursue careers as IT professionals in systems design, databases, and networks. The curriculum is designed to produce graduates ready to function in information technology positions with the competencies, skills, and values necessary for success in the workplace. The program has five main threads: Business Systems Development; Programming and Operating Systems; Databases; Networks and Telecommunications; and the Web.
The B.S. Information Technology envisions producing highly competent and employable graduates who understand the language of business and computer technology, and who can provide quality computing solutions to business problems.

COURSE CODE: PROGRA 1
TITLE: Programming 1

This course allows the student to learn and apply the art and style of procedural programming to solve computational problems adhering to the standards and guidelines of documentation. It includes discussion on I/O statements , loop and branching instructions, and creating functions and procedures.

COURSE CODE: PROGRA2
TITLE: Programming 2

This course allows the student to apply advanced techniques in procedural programming to solve computational problems adhering to the standards and guidelines of documentation. It covers the creation, manipulation and application of user-defined data structures, recursion, and file-handling techniques.

TITLE: Software Engineering

This course introduces the software engineering processes; its principles, techniques and practices to produce quality software products.

COURSE CODE: OSAPPLI
TITLE: Operating Systems Applications

This course provides an introduction to the concepts, theories and components that serve as the bases for the design of classical and modern operating systems. Topics include process and memory management, process synchronization and deadlocks.

COURSE CODE: NETMGMT
TITLE: Networking Management

This course introduces the concept of data communication and computer networking. Detailed discussion is based on the 7-layers of the OSI reference models.

TITLE: System Analysis and Design

This course covers the different places of systems development focusing on analysis and design. Students will learn the rudiments of systems development through a feasibility study.

TITLE: Object Oriented Programming

This course allows the student to learn and apply the basic language syntax and principles of object-oriented programming to solve computational problems adhering to the standards and guidelines of documentation.

COURSE CODE: DBASEM1
TITLE: Database Management System 1


This course covers discussion of database systems, the nature of the data, data association, data models. A specific DBMS will be used to implement data models for use in business application programs.

TITLE: Web Development

This course covers various web design concepts and techniques that will allow students to design, build and create effective, interactive and dynamic web applications.

COURSE CODE: DBASEM2
TITLE: Database Management System 2

This course covers characteristics and types of large multi-user database management systems currently available for use on distributed data networks. Case studies provide students with the opportunity to design and create a multi-user database using a tool such as Oracle or structured query language (SQL) maintained on a distributed network system.

COURSE CODE: PRACTIC
TITLE: PRACTICUM

This course helps to produce dynamic information technology specialists who can develop systems supportive of the information needs of business by exposing students to the use of information technology in industry, government, and academe. This will further develop the student’s competence, professionalism in dealing with clients, quality consciousness, teamwork, critical thinking, discipline, resourcefulness and self-reliance required of IT professionals by providing venue in acquiring projects than can be develop and implement as Special Projects.
