POLICY on Awarding Scholarship Grants to Faculty/Staff (IS) |

| |
- Objective
The Integrated School Faculty/Staff Scholarship Grant aims to enable faculty members and staff to plan and develop their academic career by seeking masters and doctorate degrees. This program further promotes professional improvement through direct assistance from the institution.
- Criteria
Availment of grant will be competitive in nature across all departments. The evaluation of grant applications will use the following criteria:
- employment status
- performance evaluation in the last 3 consecutive years
- recommendation from immediate superior
- length of service
- age
- previous academic record
- potential for original research
- potential for production of instructional materials
- graduate school to enroll in
- graduate degree being pursued
- administrative experience
- record of attendance in school activities such as seminars, faculty development programs, departmental meetings, and assemblies as reflected in the residency form
- previous availment of grant
- Application and Screening Procedure
- A written application for the grant shall be filed to the Office of the Integrated School Principal beginning November preceding the school year when the grant shall be availed toallow for budget allocation. The letter should include the personal purpose of the applicant, how the degree will serve the school and estimated duration of completion of the degree.
- All applications must have the following documents attached:
- School brochure indicating the degree program, number of units and other
- pertinent information
- Budget proposal for the year
- Recommendation of the immediate superior
- Letter of acceptance to the graduate program
- The Integrated School Scholarship Committee duly constituted by the Principal, in coordination with OVCAR, shall recommend who are to be given priority among the applicants based on the given criteria. Among others, the following will be considered:
- Academic discipline related to one's field of work or specialization.
- Physical fitness of the applicant to pursue and finish the degree
- Desire to pursue and finish the degree
- Need of the unit/department for personnel with specific degree
- Applicant's moral character and standing in the Lasallian community
- The Integrated School Scholarship Committee shall submit its recommendation to the Vice- Chancellor for Academic and Research on or before December 15 of the preceding school year when the grant is requested. Final approval rests on the VCAR.
- Terms and Conditions of the Grant
- The grantee shall enjoy the grant until graduation provided that a grade of at least 85% in all subjects is maintained.
- In cases where the grade of the subject taken is below 85%, withdrawn, failed or repeated, the corresponding cost of the subject will be charged to the grantee through salary deduction.
- In cases where the grantee decided to discontinue the grant or resign from the institution, the total cost of the grant already spent will be charged to the grantee through salary deduction or outright deduction.
- The grant shall be for a maximum of five (5) years. The cost of the program after the 5th year will not be covered by the scholarship grant.
- The grantee shall be required to stay in the institution after graduation for the period equivalent to the number of years of the grant unless provided otherwise by the MOA.
A scholarship contract/MOA duly notarized should be accomplished by the grantee and the school representative that stipulates the above terms and conditions.
- Awarding of Grant
The Vice-Chancellor for Academics and Research of De La Salle Lipa shall have the authority to approve and award the grant based on the recommendation of the IS Faculty Grants Committee and the Principal.
- Revocation/Revision/Termination of the Grant
De La Salle Lipa, through the President, reserves the right to revise, revoke or terminate the grant for due cause.
- Sources of Grant
Funds for the scholarship grant can be sourced from the following:
- General Faculty Development Fund
- Various internal sources such as Endowment Funds
- External grant sources
The LAMP Manager should regularly provide the VCAR a status report on the above sources to determine the available supply of funds.
