- Objective
A faculty study grant is aimed at providing assistance to the faculty to pursue appropriate and relevant graduate degrees. Assistance is given to deserving faculty based on a point system that specifies the basic qualifications of a grantee.
- Criteria
Availment of grant will be competitive in nature across all colleges. The evaluation of grant applications will use the following criteria.
- Employment status
- Performance evaluation in the last 6 consecutive semesters
- Recommendation from Chair/Dean
- Length of service (for both full-time and part-time faculty)
- Age
- Previous academic record
- Potential for Original Research
- Potential for Production of Instructional Materials
- Graduate school to enroll in
- Graduate degree being pursued
- Academic discipline
- Administrative experience
- Record of attendance in school activities such as seminars, faculty development programs, departmental meetings, and assemblies as reflected in the residency form
- Previous availment of grant
- Application and Screening Procedure
- A written letter of intent shall be filed to the Office of the Dean beginning November of the preceding school year when the grant shall be availed to allow for budget allocation. The letter should include the personal purpose of the applicant, how the degree will serve the school and estimated duration of completion of the degree. The application must have the following documents attached.
1.1. School brochure
1.2. Proposed budget
1.3. Recommendation of the Department Chair and Dean
1.4. Letter of acceptance to the Graduate School program
- All applications shall be analyzed by the College Faculty Scholarship Committee who shall rank the applicants according to the criteria set in (II). In addition, the following will be considered:
2.1 Physical fitness of the applicant
2.2 Moral character of the applicant
- Availment of grants for degree programs should be filed by September 15 preceding the next school year to allow for budget allocations.
- The Division Head with the help of his Council deliberates on all applications, submits the results based on established criteria to the VCAR on or before December 15 of the precedingschool year when the grant is requested.
- Final approval of applications rests on the VCAR.
