  Br. Victor Hille, FSC International Travel Loan
 
  1. Objective

    The Br. Victor Hille, FSC International Travel Loan is intended to assist faculty members to remain at the forefront of new developments and be aware of corresponding activities abroad. The loan is intended to benefit individuals with their current work and ultimately, education and research as a whole.

  2. Nature of the Travel Loan

    Loans may be availed for the following activities:
    1. Attendance at international conferences, particularly where the applicant is presenting a paper by invitation
    2. Attendance at short-term programs abroad or training where the subject matter is related to the applicant's area of research interest or area of specialization
    3. Visits to foreign institutions or universities for the purpose of collaborative work
    4. Field visits to foreign industrial sites or areas of specialist interest

  3. Criteria

    The scheme is open to permanent full-time faculty members only. Approval of a travel loan is subjected to availability of funds set for the year, for the purpose, either as operational funds or interest earnings of an endowment fund. In cases where there will be many applicants, prioritizing will be done across all colleges using the following criteria:
    1. Performance evaluation in the last 6 consecutive semesters
    2. Recommendation from Chair/Dean/Research and Publications Director
    3. Length of service
    4. Age
    5. Research outputs/experience
    6. Graduate degree
    7. Administrative experience (Applicable for those whose doctorate is educational management/administration.)
    8. Record of attendance in school activities such as seminars, faculty development programs, departmental meetings and assemblies as reflected in the residency form and actual evaluation.
    9. Relevance of the conference to be attended based on mission-vision of theDepartment/College/De La Salle Lipa
    10. Nature of participation
    11. Previous availment of grant

  4. Applicaion and Screening Procedure

    1. A written letter of intent shall be filed to the Office of the Dean. The letter should include thefollowing:
      1. An abstract of the paper to be presented; if the applicant is attending a conference
      2. A paragraph of no more than 200 words justifying the relevance of the visit to his/her current work
      3. A photocopy of the personal details page of his/her passport and visa
      4. Program or invitation of the activity to be attended
      5. Recommendation of the Department Chair, Dean and the Research and Publications Director (if travel is research related)
    2. All applications shall be evaluated by the Br. Victor Hille, FSC International Travel Loan Committee who shall rank the applicants according to the criteria set in III. In addition, the following shall be considered:
      1. Physical fitness for traveling
      2. Moral character
    3. Final approval of application shall be made by the Executive Vice-President in consultation

  5. Qualifications of the Grantee

        1. A permanent employee of De La Salle Lipa
        2. Has a doctoral degree or doctoral degree units earned within the current or last academic  year
        3. Maintains an efficiency rating of at least 4.0 every semester during the last two school years
        4. Has potential for responsible leadership
        5. Is physically fit for the program

  6. Duration and Frequency of Visits

    Length of travel will be determined by the inclusive dates of conference/seminar/workshop/visit but shall be limited to no more than two (2) months. Only one visit per school year per applicant is allowed.

  7. Documentation

    The grantee, two weeks upon return, shall submit a report to the OVCAR. All receipts pertinent to the travel should be attached to the report.

  8. Terms and Conditions

    1. The maximum amount that can be loaned is the equivalent in Philippine pesos of a round trip airplane ticket to and from the Philippines to and from the conference site abroad.
    2. A faculty member must be able to pay for his/her loan in full before he/she can re-apply for a loan from the same fund.
    3. No interest shall be charged on such loan and it is payable in equal semi-monthly installments through salary deductions for two years.
    4. When a faculty member obtains a travel loan but does not complete the trip as planned, the loan must be repaid immediately.
    5. FRHR should check to see if a faculty member has outstanding travel loan balances when he/she resigns. These balances are to be paid before termination of employment.
    6. Improper use of the travel loan program will result in the permanent termination of this loan program to the faculty member.
    7. De La Salle Lipa, through the President, reserves the right to revise, revoke or terminate the grant for due cause.
    8. A travel loan contract duly notarized should be accomplished by the grantee and the school representative that stipulates the above terms and conditions.
