  1. On the Selection of Participant/s
  2. The basic criteria for choosing the participant/s to be sent to training and development programs are as follows:
    1. Relevance: The topic or subject matter for the training and development activity must be related to one's field of specialization.
    2. Employment Status: Permanent faculty members and staff are given preference over probationary co-workers.
    3. Membership of professional affiliation: Faculty and staff who are members in good standing of certain professional organizations are given priority over those who are not.
    4. Institutional membership fees in professional organizations will be shouldered by DLSL. Individual memberships will be shouldered by the faculty members concerned.
    5. Position in the institution as stipulated in the invitation: There are notices of seminars that explicitly state the person or position of the person who would attend.Otherwise, any regular faculty may be eligible to attend.
    6. Track Record: Faculty and staff shall have the capacity to echo the seminar to his/her co-workers in the department, division or institution.

  3. On the Number of Participant/s
  4. As a rule, at least one participant will be sent by the unit or department concerned. The number of participants to be sent depends on the following factors:

    1. Venue of the activity: For seminars or trainings held outside Metro Manila (e.g. Northern Luzon, the Visayas or Mindanao) the Principal shall exercise discretion with respect to thenumber of participants to be sent, based on the availability of budget.
    2. Registration and other fees: Registration fees normally lie within PhP 1,000 to PhP 3,000 range per day. Should the cost of registration exceed this range, only one participant may be sent to the seminar.

    3. AS A RULE, the institution will not shoulder international trainings/development programs. The concerned faculty shall, if possible, do the fund generation through sponsorships and the like.

FOR SPECIAL CASES, however, a faculty may also apply for the Br. Victor Hille, FSC International Travel Grant.
