About Lipa City
The city of Lipa, one of three cities in the Province of Batangas, once known as the coffee center of the world. The city is approximately 1½ hours’ drive south of Manila. Geographically, it is situated almost dead center of the whole Philippine archipelago from north to south. The city has a total land area of 20,940 hectares and is bounded by Municipality of Sto. Tomas in the northeast, San Pablo City and the municipality of San Antonio Quezon in the east, the municipalities of Padre Garcia and Rosario in the southwest, the municipalities of Cuenca and Mataas ng Kahoy and Taal Lake in the west and the municipalities of Balete and Malvar in the northwest.
Climate
Like the rest of the Philippines, Lipa City has only two seasons, wet and dry. Because the city is 1,025 feet above sea level, the tropical climate is tempered all year round by cooler temperatures than many parts of the country.
DLSL: Geographic Overview
De La Salle Lipa is strategically located on 10 hectares of prime real property along the J.P. Laurel National Higway. It is 5 minutes away from the business district of Lipa City. Close by, students and visitors may avail of public transportation, boarding facilities, parks, movie houses, supermarkets, restaurants, banks, auto repair shops, commercial establishments, hospitals, golf courses and other amenities that can be found in a rapidly developing city. The campus lies on relatively high ground (about 1000 feet above sea level). At the school’s higher buildings, one can get panoramic views of Mount Makiling to the North, Mount Malarayat to the East and Mount Makulot to the west.
Transportation
Public transportation to and from the school and different points within the city of Lipa come in the form of jeepneys and tricycles, which serve as three-wheeled cabs to close destinatinos. The minimum fare for jeepneys is currently PhP 6.00 and PhP 15.00 for tricycles. Students who wish to commute from neighboring cities and municipalities have the option of taking buses which ply the Manila-Batangas City and Manila-Lemery routes. The bus depot for these buses is five minutes’ walk away from the campus.
