Building and Strengthening Capabilities and Partnerships
   
    Participation in Synergeia Fellowship-Tipanan 2005
    On November 18-20, 2005, Synergeia Foundation, the education network where Project K is a member, held its second fellowship affair with the theme 'Tipanan:Edukasyon-Biyayang Handog para Sa Batang Pilipino", at the PTA Tent (Clamshell 2) General Luna St., Intramuros, Manila. Amont its activities were program exhibits, fellowship night, thematic workshops from different places in the Philippines, Christmas Bazaar, music and fun. Project K actively particpated in these events together with a number of entrepreneurs from Liopa who exhibited native products form Batangas, and student organizations from De La Salle Lipa. Dr. Cristeto Pamplona, DepEd Division Superintendent of Lipa and Project K co-Executive Director, was one of the special guests who cut the ribbon in opening the event. Selected parents were also given the opportunity to visit the fellowship and see the reading projects in other places.
     
    Participation in Synergeia Retreat 2006
    The retreat, with the theme "Loads of Appreciation, Tons of Encouragement", was held at the IIRR site in Cavite on January 26-27, 2006. The retreat served as a venue for Project K to share the best practices and lessons learned in administering education reform programs. One of the workshops in the retreat focused on the discussion of the achievements, strategies and activities of partners that could be adapted by other new partners of Synergeia. Likewise, plans for program preparation and sustainability that will be undertaken by the Project Management Team (PMT) were discussed.
     
    Partnership with De La Salle Lipa Book Mobile Program
    De La Salle Lipa, in partnership with Project K, launched their Book Mobile Reading Program (BMRP) with the theme "Learn to Read, Read to Learn" on December 02, 2005 at Rafael M. Lojo Elementary School in Lipa City. The objective is to provide more opportunities for sharing Lasallian education to the young and marginalized sector of the society. Dr. Milwida Guevara, CEO and Ms. Trissa Manalastas, Development Officer of Synergeia Foundation were the special guests.
     
    The BMRP is expected to complement and reinforce the "KinaBOOKasan" and "Bahay-Aklatan" components of Project K by going to remote barangays in Lipa City to lend books and conduct video showing and recreatory reading activities.
     
    Partnership with De La Salle Lipa NSTP Department
    Project K established linkage with the National Service Training Program (NSTP) of De La Salle Lipa. A workshop was held where the mechanics of cooperation was discussed and finalized. It was agreed that NSTP adopts Project K's Community reading Program through recreatory reading and storytelling activities in public schools of Lipa. All first year students of De La Salle Lipa under mentorship and supervision of their teachers participated as storytellers and facilitators for Grade I to III pupils of public schools in Lipa. The NSTP Program provided detailed documentation of these activities. The performance of the NSTP students in the story-telling activities were integrated in the grading system of the program. A plaque of recognition was given by DLSL-NSTP to Project K for the efforts of the project in helping NSTP in the storytelling activities.
     
    Partnership with Lipa City Youth Council
    Project K forged partnership with the Lipa City Youth Council and negotiated for the inclusion of reading programs in the agenda of the Youth council. Initially, officers and members of the Youth Council supported the recreatory reading program carriedc out by NSTP, but expanded their target beneficiaries to preschoolers.
     
    Partnership with LGU's GALING Awards
    Project K was the partner of the Lipa City Government in its major foundation anniversary activity called "Guro: Ang Lipeñong Ipinagmamalaki Ng Gobyerno (G.A.L.I.N.G.) Award" which was held on June 13 2006 at Lipa City Plaza Independencia. The event aimed to recognize public elementary and hight school teachers of the city for their efforts and contributions to the literacy development of the society and for positive influence on the young minds of the Lipeños. All public elementary and secondary teachers, principals/head teachers and supervisors with other specific qualifications are the participants opf the project. Various incentives were given to awardees including plaques, cash and other prizes.
