World Bank Conference on Fiscal Governance |

A one-day conference by the World Bank and Asian Development Bank on Fiscal Governance was held at the Columbus Function Room of the Discovery Suites in Makati City on 22 May 2003. The representatives from the different Ford Foundation grantees were present at the meeting. Lipa City was represented by Vice Mayor Boy Manguera. |

The Reform Leaders Training/Workshop was held in Angels’ Hills, Tagaytay City on 22-23 May 2003. The training/workshop aimed to promote parent involvement in the improvement of their children’s educational capabilities. |

The training/workshop for DepEd reformists was held in Angels’ Hills, Tagaytay City on 29-30 May 2003. The training/workshop aimed to affirm the value of collaborative work in basic education. |

Benchmarking Workshop |
| |

Dr. Abansi and Ningning Doble represented Project K in the benchmarking workshop sponsored by Synergeia at the IIRR, Silang, Cavite on April 30 – May 1, 2004. Dr. Abansi was chosen to facilitate and lead the establishment of benchmarks that will adequately represent the targets/objectives of all projects under Synergeia’s coordination.
In the same workshop, Dr. Guevara clarified that all projects funded by Ford Foundation should be able to use its budget by the time the project ends, otherwise, unused funds will be returned to Ford Foundation.

“Building a Learning Community” – First National Covenant on Education |

|
A signing of covenant between mayors and governors from all over the country and Secretary Florencio Abad of the Department of Education was held on June 29, 2005 at the Asian Institute of Management at around 9:30 in the morning until 2:00 in the afternoon. The covenant defined the commitments between local governments and DepEd in transforming local school boards as a primary mover of the community in providing quality basic education to children. Project K participated in this covenant to ensure a progressive learning community in Lipa City. |
