    Four-Pronged Approach to Reading
    The Training on the Four Pronged Approach to Reading was organized to familiarize teachers with a tried-and-tested strategy for teaching reading. Among the available alternative strategies for teaching reading, the teachers indicated their interest and appreciation for the four-pronged approach.
   
  • Pre-planning Seminar
    The planning of the Training on the Four-Pronged Approach to Reading was held at the DepEd Division Office on 28 April 2003 and 16 May 2003. Those present at the workshop were the members of the Reading Experts Team, the volunteer teachers who helped in organizing the training event and the representatives of Project K, namely: Dr. Corazon L. Abansi, Maria Consuelo Doble and Lita Buquiz.
  • Grades I and II Teachers (May 21-23, 2003)
    The first batch for the Training on the Four-Pronged Approach to Reading was held at the MTDC Auditorium at De La Salle Lipa on 21-23 May 2003. The first batch was composed of Grades I and II teachers consisting of 321 participants coming from the four districts.
  • Grades III and IV Teachers (June 2-4, 2003)
    The training-workshop for the second batch was also held at the MTDC Auditorium at De La Salle Lipa on 02-04 June 2003. The second batch was composed of Grades III and IV teachers consisting of 275 participants coming from the four districts.
  • Training on the Four Pronged Approach to Reading for Grades V and VI Teachers
    Having finished the training of the Grades I-IV teachers on the Four-Pronged Approach to Reading the previous year, the Project K Reading Experts Team decided to extend the activity to the Grades V and VI teachers as well to prevent regression as the pupils move on toward higher levels of reading. The training was held at the Lipa City South Central School on 19-20 April 2004 covering 200 participants. This time, Developmental Reading was focused on to cater to the more advanced reading needs of grades V and VI pupils.
