The workbook development general committee and teacher – members underwent a series of workbook writing workshops on October 16, and 25 – 27, 2004 at El Fili Building of De La Salle Lipa. After the series of workshops, the contents of the workbooks were drafted based on the Four – Pronged approach lesson plans they are currently using.

The workbooks underwent rigid editing, testing and finalization under the supervision of Ms. Isabel Naval, Project K Workbook Specialist. Reproduction was taken cared of by De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) through its Centralized Purchasing Department (CPD).

    The Workbook Writing

Project K prepares the groundwork for the development of customized English workbooks that will be used by the elementary public school students for school year 2005-2006.

The workbook development committee, composed of selected elementary public school teachers from Grades One to Six underwent a two-part workshop on book writing. The first part was conducted on 16 October 2004 while the second part was a series of intensive workshops conducted on 25-27 October 2004 at El Fili Building of De La Salle Lipa. Ms. Isabel Naval, a Language and Literature instructor from the De La Salle Lipa Tertiary School served as the facilitator of the workshop and workbook development specialist.

Project K Executive Director Dr. Abansi and DepEd English Supervisor Dr. Bandelaria award a Certificate of Appreciation to Ms. Isabel Naval for being the resource person and workbook development specialist of the workshop.

The first part of the workshop focused on guidelines in writing and developing workbooks. Through a series of lecture, Ms. Naval shared several tips in formulating the content of the workbooks to make it suitable for the elementary students of Lipa City. This was then followed by the actual writing of the first draft of the workbook wherein each grade-level team of teachers were asked to produce their first draft based on the lesson plans they are currently using.

    Workbook Preparation

Ms. Naval took charge of the editing sessions of the workbook. To complete the preparation process of the workbook development, Project K hired job contractors for the overall layout and design of the workbooks. The reproduction of the final outputs is expected to start on May 2005, in time for their distribution during the opening of classes in June.
