CEAS Science Area, unbeatable in research presentations

Faculty members of the Science Area of College of Education Arts and Sciences are really driven to do research and communicate their findings in various conferences.

Mr. Bernard Lunar, DLSL Junior Researcher presented his paper entitled "Creating Environmental Awareness and Sensitivity through Service Learning in Ecology Class" during the 20th ASEACCU Conference 2012 held August 23-26, 2012. in Wenzao Ursuline College of Languages in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Republic of China. He was one of the three junior faculty researchers from Asia who were invited to speak in the said conference.

Meanwhile, during the World Research Festival 2012 held August 22-25 at Marco Polo Plaza, Cebu City, Ms. Marisol Laguardia, Biology Department Head, presented two papers: Outcomes-Based Evaluation of the Transformative Learning Design in Environmental Science Course in De La Salle Lipa and Diversity of Mangroves in a Marine Protected Area in Calatagan, Batangas, Philippines.

Ms. Melanie Lugo, faculty member of Science Area likewise shared her findings in two of her paper presentations: Correlates of Problem Solving Performance in Prerequisites of Math Courses with Problem Solving Performance of Engineering Physics 1 and Factors Affecting the Correlation of Mathematics Problem Solving of Engineering Students in De La Salle Lipa in Advanced Algebra and Plane Spherical Trigonometry.

Incidentally, out of the 12 proposals being currently evaluated by the ORP, nine came from Science Area and Biology Department which indeed proves that knowledge of scientific process facilitates research skill and understanding.
