 Marianito Dio, Jr., an AB Comm alumnus and one of the instructors at DLSL had a chance to showcase his film "Sarong Aldaw" at Cinemalaya 8, Philippine Independent Film Festival 2012, last July 20-29 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Greenbelt and Trinoma Cinemas.
In over 113 submitted entries on the prestigious film festival in the country, his film Sarong Aldaw was chosen last April 2012 together with 9 short films from different parts of the country.
The Gala Premiere of his film and other film in the Shorts B section was last July 28, at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo, Cultural Center of the Philippines´ main theater.
Sarong Aldaw is about a son of a farmer in a remote place in Bicol wanting to continue his studies and dreams in Manila, but his father forbade it for some reasons.
Aside from the success of his film in Cinemalaya, it was also recognized in different film festivals like Philippine Women University Art Festival, Ateneo Video Open, University of the Philippines-Diliman’s Piling Obrang Vidyo 8 and also in Gawad CCP in the past year.
