Elective courses may include topics such as DNA forensics, dactyloscopy, forensic toxicology, and forensic photography.
In addition to the coursework, the program includes laboratory sessions, where students will receive hands-on training in forensic techniques, such as DNA analysis, fingerprinting, forensic chemistry and toxicology, preservation of evidence, and firearm analysis. The program also includes an internship or practicum, where students can gain practical experience in a forensic science setting.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
A forensic science program can be designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become forensic scientists. Moreover, they can work in a variety of settings, such as law enforcement agencies, crime laboratories, and research institutions.
Forensic Scientist: Forensic scientists work in laboratories to analyze physical evidence that includes the DNA, fingerprints, and blood samples. This is used to assist law enforcement agencies in solving crimes.
Crime Scene Investigator: Crime scene investigators are tasked for collecting and analyzing physical evidence at crime scenes. They work with law enforcement agencies to gather evidence that can be presented to the court of law.
Digital Forensic Analyst: Digital forensic analysts use specialized tools and techniques to recover and analyze data from electronic devices which include computers and smartphones. They may work in law enforcement agencies or private organizations to assist in investigations related to cybercrimes.
Forensic Toxicologist: Forensic toxicologists analyze bodily fluids as well as tissues to determine the presence of drugs or other substances.

BS IN MATHEMATICS (With Emphasis on Data Science)
Program Overview
The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with an emphasis on Data Science is a four-year degree program designed to prepare students for an increasingly data-driven world. The program combines various mathematical training with a background in mathematical modeling, scientific computing, and practical applications of mathematics to equip students with the skills to tackle complex real-world problems.
Core courses establish the mathematical foundations necessary for advanced study. As students progress, extensive exposure to mathematical applications in statistics, operations research, data science, and actuarial science is fostered. The program places a strong emphasis on the use of mathematical software packages and tools to analyze data, extract insights and patterns, and interpret results. More importantly, students are upskilled with the proper use of problem-solving approaches to investigate and understand mathematical content, analyze mathematical statements, and construct proofs and solutions.
Skills, traits, and attitude to be in advantage with the course
- Analytical Skills: the ability to pay attention to details, construct logical arguments and follow complex reasoning to solve both complicated and uncomplicated mathematical problems.
- Problem-solving Skills: during the course, you will deal with complex mathematical problems and scenarios, you must have the ability to present a solution clearly, making your assumptions explicit.
- Organizational Skills: the ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules.
- Reading Comprehension: the ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing; this skill is very important because mathematical problems are not always presented in numbers/formulas but rather in written or situational form.
