The month of February holds special meaning for the students and partners of De La Salle Lipa (DLSL). That’s because the month of love doubles as the Foundation Month for the school.
As we prepare to commemorate the 58th founding anniversary of De La Salle Lipa , let us first take a look back at our rich history.
De La Salle Lipa History
The school first opened its gates to students eager to learn back in 1962, although it wasn’t known as De La Salle Lipa at the time. It was first known as the Boys’ Department of the Maryknoll Sisters’ Our Lady of the Rosary Academy.
Under the guidance of Br. Henry Vigil FSC, the school would undergo a transition in its second year as it would become known as La Salle High School. The school’s population would grow significantly after it became La Salle High School, with elementary school students also being welcomed into the fold.
By the start of the 1970s, the school would take on a new identity. That was the year it would officially become De La Salle Lipa and it remains a revered educational institution in the province of Batangas to this day.
De La Salle Lipa is now under the leadership of Br. Dante Amisola FSC and its future looks as bright as ever. This year, we celebrate De La Salle Lipa being “Great at 58,” but we also look forward to many more terrific decades for our beloved school.
A Different Kind of Foundation Day
Similar to many other recent school events, the Foundation Day for this year will be held a bit differently. Instead of the festivities taking place on school grounds, the Foundation Day events will commence online this year.
Themed “Great at 58: Empowered, Engaged, Enabled,” this Foundation Day Celebration is a tribute to the way the DLSL Community has managed to make the transition to the online learning made necessary by the ongoing pandemic. While going fully online has presented its share of challenges, the students, teachers, and partners of De La Salle Lipa have managed to adapt well to all of them.
The Foundation Day Celebration
This year’s Foundation Day festivities will include performances from numerous members of the De La Salle Lipa community. Marvel as the students showcase their musical talents through various performances.
Students will also be given the chance to present their best and most spectacular outfits from the comfort of their own homes. See the latest style trends on full display courtesy of De La Salle Lipa’s students through In-Style-Gram.
Apart from the aforementioned activities, students may also be able to pick up some valuable knowledge by tuning into the Foundation Day celebration. Students can pick up some tips for the kitchen via the cooking demo or listen to an in-depth conversation about all things business. Aspiring athletes will also want to carve out some time for the scheduled webinar. They can also stay around until the evening for the virtual hangout and enjoy the closing concert dubbed as Echoes Express.
The 58th Founding Anniversary for De La Salle Lipa will be different this year, but the spirit of the event lives on. We urge all students and Partners to tune into the festivities when they go live via De La Salle Lipa’s Facebook and YouTube accounts on February 24!
