The current health crisis brought about by COVID-19 did not prevent De La Salle Lipa from hosting its annual Retirement Appreciation Activity for Lasallian Partners.
In lieu of hosting the event in person, the school opted to hold the event virtually via a livestream broadcast on YouTube. The virtual event premiered on July 14, 2020 at 2:30 PM and was hosted by the Human Resource Development Office.
Following the opening prayer, Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Erickson E. Martinez rendered his welcome remarks. Dr. Martinez thanked the retirees for their countless contributions to the school and reminded them that they would always be members of the De La Salle Lipa community.
First among the retirees recognized was Dr. Violeta L. Andaleon. Dr. Andaleon worked at the campus for 22 years. She held different roles throughout her tenure, working as a guidance counselor, psychometrician, HR manager, campus minister, and as a member of the college faculty.
Next was Ms. Analize A. Frane. Ms. Frane spent 23 years at De La Salle Lipa and her contributions as a member of the NEXUS staff, the technical services head, and as the acquisition and school librarian were highlighted during the virtual event.
Mr. Mario M. Marasigan, the school’s athletics equipment custodian and an integral member of the maintenance staff, was also given well-deserved recognition as part of the proceedings.
After spending 26 years in service of De La Salle Lipa, Ms. Santa S. Embalsado is also bidding the campus farewell. Ms. Embalsado worked as an administrative assistant, discipline officer, curriculum coordinator, and as a teacher to both Prep and Grade School students.
Also among the new retirees for 2020 is Mr. Victorio M. Loreto. Mr. Loreto worked at De La Salle Lipa for 30 years. During such time, he worked as a year level moderator, activities officer, administrative assistant, curriculum coordinator, and Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) teacher.
Lastly, the event also paid tribute to Ms. Emily T. Babasa. For 39 years, Ms. Babasa specialized in Physical Education (PE) as she taught the subject and also served as the chairperson for the said area. She also held the role of curriculum coordinator as well as Sports and Culture Director.
Dr. Iezyl U. Torino, the school’s Vice Chancellor for Academics, addressed the six retirees and offered them sincere thanks for their service. Dr. Torino echoed the sentiments of Dr. Martinez as she reminded the retirees that they would always be considered family by the school.
Later on, the newly retired Lasallian Partners were presented with their plaques of recognition. They were also given the opportunity to share their farewell messages to the members of the De La Salle Lipa community.
Dr. Maria Sheila G. Alvarez, the school’s HR director, offered the closing remarks for the virtual event. She wished the retirees well on their future endeavors. Dr. Alvarez also emphasized that they will continue to be members of the De La Salle Lipa community even as they venture into retirement.
