The De La Salle Lipa Welcome Shelters is the institution’s response to the great need for a humane, decent and high-standard “second home” for those afflicted by the Taal Volcano eruption. Opened on 18 January 2020, the shelters were the ‘labor of love’ of Lasallians and partners from various sectors – providing more than 300 “guests” (evacuees) with a kitchen, mess hall, 80 tents, laundry/wash area, portalets, charging stations, first aid area, kids’ play area, and water station. This facility is located at the DLSL Sports Center. Several programs and activities are conducted for the guests: from daily prayer service, structured learning sessions, creative activities, medical missions, play time, wellness activities, daily masses, musical performances, birthday socials, and more.
DLSL Partners, students, local government unit representatives, parents, alumni, and other interest groups collaborate in the different functions of the shelters – fulfilling the Lasallian Mission St. La Salle dreamed of.
