What is BorderFree Education?

De La Salle Lipa BorderFree Education is the “School of the Future,” empowering students to take greater ownership of their learning process. It integrates Academics, Campus Life, and Campus Services supported online by faculty, staff, and other shared services personnel – offering Education-on-Demand.

Why BorderFree Education?

PRESCHOOL

During Synchronous Class Sessions

For preschoolers, each in-person classroom session will begin with an introductory activity. The purpose of this activity is to ease preschoolers into the rest of their day.
They will to participate in fun activities so they become more engaged. Examples of introductory activities that may be featured during in-person classes include interactive activities, short story sessions, rhyme recitals, and analyses. The introductory activities will be based on topics that have been recently discussed. The bulk of the school day will be used on inquiry-based and collaborative activities. The aforementioned activities will give the preschoolers opportunities to work with one another. They are also meant to provide preschoolers with a chance to experience deeper learning. Closing activities will also be provided so the preschoolers can review what they learned during the class. Teachers will also give students additional instructions for upcoming lessons.

GRADE SCHOOL

GRADE 1

During Synchronous Class Sessions

Easing Grade 1 students into in-classroom sessions is very important. That’s why During Synchronous Class sessions for Grade 1 students start with engaging activities designed to help them brush up on previously discussed topics.

After students are given a chance to review, they can tackle the most important lessons during in-person classroom sessions. They will be encouraged to work in pairs so they can complete the tasks given to them.

Checklists will also be provided so students can better understand what they need to accomplish during a particular classroom session.

After Synchronous Class Sessions

The period after classroom sessions for Grade 1 students is crucial. After Synchronous Class sessions are meant to give Grade 1 students a chance to catch up on the subjects that have been discussed thus far.

Grade 1 students will also be given additional tasks during these After Synchronous Class sessions. These graded tasks offer teachers more ways to gauge the true capabilities of their students.

 

GRADE 2-3

During Synchronous Class Sessions

During Synchronous Class sessions for Grade 2 to 3 students will begin with
review activities. The students will be given a chance to think back on topics previously discussed via quizzes, Q and A sessions, and educational games.

Aside from allowing students to review their previous lessons, the aforementioned activities are also useful springboards for the new topics of the day.

Once the introductory activities have been completed, students can start participating in collaborative, inquiry-based tasks. To make the most of the students being inside the classroom, they will be given a wide variety of hands-on activities to complete. Grade 2 to 3 students will be encouraged to work in groups so they can start experiencing the importance of
teamwork firsthand.

At the end of each During Synchronous Class session, Grade 2 to 3 students will review what they did for the day. They will then be asked to summarize the topics covered before class is formally concluded.

After Synchronous Class Sessions

Teachers and students engage in conversations where students receive feedback
on their class performance and receive instructions in how to improve or advance further.

Graded tasks will also be provided by the teachers to allow the Grade 2 to 3 students to gauge their academic performance.

GRADE 4-6

Before Synchronous Class Sessions

Grade 4 to 6 students will begin hybrid learning by diving into their modules.

The modules will contain specially curated reading materials and videos made by the teachers which will help students develop a deeper understanding of the topics being discussed.

Guide questions will also be present throughout the modules and students will be asked to complete them before attending the synchronous sessions.

During Synchronous Class Sessions

During Synchronous Class sessions for Grade 4 to 6 students will begin with quizzes, Q and A sessions, and other activities designed to gauge their understanding of lessons presented in the online modules and clarify their misconceptions.

To intensify their engagement, the students will take on various group activities. They will form teams and collaboratively tackle the tasks at hand so they can produce better results. These inquiry-based activities will also allow students to internalize and retain their lessons more effectively.

After Synchronous Class Sessions

Teachers will recap the performance of the Grade 4 to 6 students during the
After Synchronous Class sessions. They will provide feedback so the students can understand whichever problem areas they need to work on.

Graded tasks will also be provided during this phase of hybrid learning. Those graded tasks will factor into the overall assessment of a particular student’s performance.

 

For Grades 4-6:

  • Learning modules that cover and enhance DepEd prescribed most essential learning competencies in English, Math, Filipino, Social Studies, Science and MAPEH enriched by the addition of CLCE and by the incorporation of Christian values, essential life and social skills; advanced competencies in TLE; and social innovation fundamentals
  • Access to a variety of learning experiences that students can engage in with minimal supervision of parents
  • A fully online experience delivered through the Borderfree Learning LMS platform
  • Entails moderate guidance from both parents and teachers
  • Teachers are moderately engaged in pacing of learning and are available for consultation and conferences
  • Real-time online meetings with students may be scheduled by two to three subjects in a week
  • A variety of online formative assessments featuring automated feedback and multiple attempts to enable learners and their parents to track their progress in real-time and to allow teachers and parents to develop customized and data-driven interventions to support the learning journey
  • Summative assessments that allow the learners to demonstrate mastery of the subject-specific skills and competencies; and essential 21st century skills
  • Open gradebook, that allows learners to track their own learning progress

JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

GRADE 7-10

Before Synchronous Class Sessions

Grade 7 to 10 students can prepare for their return to the classroom by completing modules given to them by their teachers. The comprehensive modules contain carefully selected reading materials. They also include videos produced by the teachers so the students have additional guidance as they go through their lessons.

Students must also clear checkpoints to show their teachers that they have made progress during their independent learning sessions. Quizzes will also be conducted.

During Synchronous Class Sessions

The general outline of During Synchronous Class sessions for Grade 7 to 10 students will feature reviews of previously discussed topics to promote mastery. They will continue into activities and discussions that encourage critical thinking. The lessons provided are specially crafted with the intent of imbuing students with Lasallian values.

Students will understand the value of teamwork and collaboration as they continually work on different tasks. They must engage in creative problem solving if they want to come up with the answers they need.

Workloads are designed to provide optimal learning for Grade 7 to 10 students. Leaning on one another for assistance will be crucial as they take on their tasks.

After Synchronous Class Sessions

Grade 7 to 10 students will be given multiple opportunities to seek feedback from their teachers. They can either ask questions online or seek guidance in person. The teachers will also provide comprehensive feedback so students get the full picture about their performance.

Once again, graded tasks and authentic summative assessments will be provided during this phase of hybrid learning.

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

GRADE 11-12

Before Synchronous Class Sessions

Independent learning will take up a larger portion of a student’s day if they are in Grade 11 or 12. The modules will contain curated reading materials and videos made by teachers. Students must review the contents of the modules thoroughly so they can correctly answer the guide questions provided.

Exercises and quizzes will serve as additional checkpoints students must clear beforethey proceed to the next phase of hybrid learning.

During Synchronous Class Sessions

Grade 11 to 12 students should expect their Synchronous Class sessions to focus on meaningful and engaging activities that will deepen their understanding of complex topics. Such activities will require thorough discussions and collaborations among peers, under the guidance of their teacher.

Activities like lab simulations, quizzes, collaborative activities, skills demonstration and problem-solving tasks will be prominently featured in the Synchronous Class lesson plans for Grade 11 to 12 students. Classroom sessions will wrap up with activities designed to help students retain the important details of their lessons and gauge their mastery.

After Synchronous Class Sessions

Teachers will again provide Grade 11 to 12 students with much-needed feedback during the After Synchronous Class sessions, through in-person consultation or online consultation through official platforms.. Feedback will be provided in person and through online platforms so students will be given ample opportunities to review the comments they receive.

Grade 11 to 12 students will have to accomplish graded tasks and authentic summative assessments to serve as evaluation of and for learning. Feedback for those tasks will also be provided along with tips for how the students can improve.

Basic Requirements

  1. Properly accomplished application form
  2. Two (2) certified true copies of college diploma
  3. Certified true copy of Transcript of Records (TOR)
  4. Three (3) 2×2 recent, identical colored pictures with white background (with printed name and signature written at the back)
  5. Two (2) letters of recommendation from former undergraduate or graduate professors or employers who could attest to the applicants qualification for the Law Program
  6. Curriculum Vitae or Resume
  7. A certified true copy of marriage certificate from NSO (if married)
  8. Notarized Frat / Soro Waiver Form

Guidelines

  1. Compliance with the “18 – 6 – 18 ” Requirement: 18 units of English, 6   units of Mathematics, 18 units of Social Sciences. Those who will be admitted notwithstanding non-compliance with this are required to take and pass the deficient units within one (1) year from such admission to the JD Program.
  2. GPA of at least 80 or its equivalent ( GPA of 75 to 79 may be admitted at the Dean’s discretion )
  3. No DCLAT / Law Admission Test Requirement for this coming SY2020-21.
  4. Online interview by the Dean
  5. Two (2) letters of recommendation from former undergraduate or graduate professors or employers who could attest to the applicants qualification for the Law Program
  6. Per LEB Memorandum Circular No. 57, Series of 2020, the PHILSAT requirement is suspended for those seeking admission to the College of Law for School Year 2020-21.
