“Christmas feels” ushered in at De La Salle Lipa (DLSL) with a symbolic virtual lighting ceremony themed “Merry and Bright Christmas” last December 1 at 6:00 p.m via DLSL’s official Youtube and Facebook pages. This marks the Lasallian community’s way of welcoming the holiday season.
Br. Weegee Enriquez FSC, head of the Lasallian Youth Ministry Office, delivered a short message to kick off the event. According to him, Christians must have a space for Jesus Christ in their hearts, homes, and society. “We must remember that even beyond the Christmas season, Jesus continues to knock on the door. But this time, he knocks to invite us to join him on the streets, to join him in the marketplace, to join him in the communities of the marginalized, and to join him in pitching our tents with them too,” he said.
Moreover, to liven up the evening, Lasallian performers from the Modern Dance Company and Musikalista, and Voices showcased their talents through song and dance numbers, while Dulaang Kentawra showed their acting prowess in a short play, followed by the DLSL Symphony Orchestra’s rendition of Christmas carols.
The most anticipated part of the occasion was then unveiled as the giant Christmas tree outside the DLSL campus was lit, together with the surrounding Christmas lights, parols, and other decors. Lasallians, from their respective homes, on the other hand, witnessed this visual and auditory feast virtually – exclaiming their longing to visit the campus again via Youtube and Facebook live chat.
